Over the week, Apple has released a Q&A on their website that answers the much discussed issue on the iPhone which allows it to store your location details. Apple started by clearing one thing: that they tracked nor will ever track user's location.

That seems to work, somehow, as it helped calm down some of the noisiest privacy crowds to date. But Apple's statements did not do a lot for some people in Congress, most especially Democratic Representative Jay Inslee from Washington.

Inslee isn't that impressed with Apple's words, and he's sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission to conduct a thorough investigation on the matter, arguing that an investigation is needed to "ensure all the questions regarding this issue, including the lack of disclosure, are answered." A member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Mr. Inslee also took said that this particular incident is one of the reasons why it is necessary for the federal government to come up with new laws and regulations that will restrict companies from their data collection practices
Apple said that they will cooperate with whatever investigations they will be invited for. They also acknowledge that while they do store data for better location-base services, they do not use them improperly, and that they only intend to store at least 7 days of data, and not a full year as previously stated. However, they admitted that a bug is causing the devices to store a full year of location data instead of just 7 days, and they will fix it the soonest possible time.
