It's been 5 years, and the battle between the world's largest music labels and music sharing site LimeWire still continues. The four largest music houses in the world sued LimeWire back in 2006, alleging that the site promotes illegal sharing of music in bulk, resulting into massive, worldwide music piracy. The music giants found a glimpse of victory in October of 2010 when the court ruled that LimeWire's peer-to-peer music sharing site be shut down. And here again, now that the lawsuit is in its final stages, victory for the music companies seem like just a stone's throw away. Lime Wire founder Mark Gorton recently acknowledged that he knew his patronizers were using the site to illegally share music, effectively promoting music piracy. "I was wrong," Gorton told the court. "I didn't think our behavior was inducing [copyright infringement]. I understand that a court has found otherwise," he added. LimeWire had been used by million of people for many years, and while it is decided that it should pay the music companies for the damages, the exact amount is still to be decided. Insiders said it could cost Gorton between a modest $7 million to a whopping $1.4 billion. Big pay day. You can talk about...
