The raid that took place in Abbotabad, Pakistan that killed the world's most wanted person, Osama bin Laden, has created more than one victory. Aside from shooting down the father of all terrorists, the US military were able to take home things they believe will lead them closer for more victories against terrorism.
According to initial reports, a total of five computers, 10 hard drives and dozens of removable devices were recovered in bin Laden's den, including USB disks and DVDs. Authorities are hoping that these computerwares will give them lead to bin Laden's activities and future plans, as well as information on the whereabouts of his comrades, especially his chief lieutenant, Ayman al-Zawahiri. But analysts feared that it will not be very easy to search these items and extract information from them. It is expected to come with ultra high encryption security. But the authorities are not worried, for this isn't the first time they will be facing confiscated electronic devices that needs to encryption bypassing. In 2007, computers were seized from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, containing information about the 9/11 attacks. The media exploitation process is called DOMEX, and it is under the jurisdiction of the National Media Exploitation Center, or NMEC, which itself follows the command of the director of the National Intelligence.
