Security experts says that there is a indestructible in cyber space. Over 4 million PCs across the globe have been part or a botnet which is collection of infected machine which is silently used by hacker or group of hackers.

The botnet is named TDL and it targets Windows PCs and is difficult to detect and shut down. The Codes that hijacks a PC is well hidden in places that most security software rarely looks. The botnet is also controlled using custom-made encryption making it more difficult to detect.

According to Security researcher, the recent botnet shutdowns had made TDL's controllers harden it against investigation and detection. The 4.5 million PCs have become victims over the last few months following the appearance of the fourth version of the TDL.

Kaspersky Labs security researchers Sergey Golovanov and Igor Soumenkov said that the recent changes introduced in the latest TDL-4, made it the most sophisticated threat these days, in their detailed analysis of the virus. According to these two, owners of the TDL are essentially trying to create an indestructible botnet which could protect itself against attacks, competitors, and as well as from anti-virus companies.

With the joint efforts of security companies and law enforcements against these botnets led to spam levels to dropping around 75% of all e-mail sent, according to the analysis by Symantec.

A botnet is a networked of computers that have been infected by a virus that allows a controller to use them remotely for any service they want. Most of the botnet controllers steal data from their victims' PCs or use it send out spam or carry out other attacks that needs that collection like in DDoS attacks, etc.

The TDL virus can either spread via malicious or hacked websites and infects a machine by exploiting vulnerabilities it still has. The virus has been found lurking different websites like those offering porn and pirated software, movies, etc., as well as those that let people store video and image files.
